Livin the Mission (Loving Those Closest To You)

It’s mid February and it’s sunny and the snow and ice is finally melting! (A little).

After a winter with snow and ice on the ground almost since December 1, it is exciting to see.

I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day.  This Sunday we will continue our series by looking at "Loving Those Closest To You," from 1 John 3:11-16.  We will talk about loving our spouse, our children, our parents, our siblings, our friends and others that are close to us.  We can keep loving those closest to us more than just Valentine’s Day. :)   This would seem like an easy task, but so often it is those closest to us that we treat the worst or get annoyed with the most.  If we are going to follow Jesus and love, we need to love those closest to us.

This past Sunday I preached on "The Power of the New You" from 1 John 3:1-10.  I pointed out that there are 2 halves of the gospel:  #1  I am forgiven by God  #2  I have a new nature from God.

The main point this past Sunday was we not only have forgiveness for sin but we have a new nature from God to live obediently to Christ.  That’s the power of the new person God has given us.

Let’s live with this power this week and obey Christ!

Upcoming events include:

Genesis Bible Study Thursday night at 7 pm.

Leadership Team Meeting Wednesday February 23 at 7 pm.

Saturday February 26 has a lot of activities:

Men’s Prayer Breakfast-7:30 am.

"How To Improve Your Confidence" Seminar-9:00 am-11:00 am.

Young Adult Bowling-6:30 pm at the Rose Bowl in New Castle.

Hope to see you soon.

God Bless,

Livin’ the Mission (The Power of the New You)

We are rolling along in this cold, snowy, icy February.  Remember just a couple of more weeks and March will be here, right?

It is good to enjoy all of the days God gives us, remember Psalm 118:24 "This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."  Today is a day to enjoy life and enjoy God and His blessings.  Let us not put that off until the next big event or the next season, let us enjoy everyday God has given us.  I know at times it can be tough but I was encouraged today by remembering what God told Paul in 2 Corinthians as he was calling out for God’s deliverance, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." (2 Cor. 12:9)

I know that a number of you missed church this past Sunday due to the weather.  In the e-mail I am attaching a copy of the notes from Sunday’s message.  If you would like to ask questions or need a different format feel free to e-mail me  The message was on "How To Respond to the Antichrist Spirit."  We finished up 1 John 2.

This week the message will be from 1 John 3:1-10 on "The Power of the New You."  We have more in Christ than we believe or accept sometimes and this message will encourage you to believe who you are in Christ and the power He has given us to live differently.

Remember the church forum tonight at 7:00 pm.

Thursday we will plan on being back for Bible Study on Genesis 9-10 at 7 pm at the church.

Next Tuesday Feb. 15 at 6:30 pm we will be having a combined leadership and deacon’s meeting with Child Protection Training and all are welcome.

Saturday morning Feb. 26 at 7:30 is men’s prayer breakfast followed by my seminar on "How To Improve Your Confidence" from 9-11 am.

Hope you can join us and enjoy your week with the Lord.

God Bless,
Brian Mackie

Livin The Mission (Antichrist)

Greetings "Brethren" (and sisters),
I hope you are all enjoying the snow, and ice!

Hasn’t this been a wonderful winter so far?
This week we are planning to continue the series, "Livin’ the Mission" with 1 John 2:18-29 on "Antichrist."
This past week I preached on "What Not to Love" from 1 John 2:15-17.  I think it will go down in White Branch history however as the "Hokey Pokey" sermon.
I put my four main points to the tune of the hokey pokey to help us remember them.  Put the tune in your head and remember these points:
"You put the right things, you take the wrong things out, you rely on God and you help each other out…that’s what it’s all about."
For now we are planning Bible Study at 7 pm on Thursday but I will call Bill Bowman with a decision Thursday afternoon.
Wednesday February 9 is the church forum at 7 pm.
Tuesday February 15 at 6:30 pm is a combined Deacons/Leadership meeting with Child Protection Training, all are welcome to come and be trained to help reduce the risk of abuse of children.
God Bless,
Brian Mackie
