Have Confidence in Prayer

It feels great right now to kick off spring!!!  But…I have heard (from Randy Ollis at Wish TV 8 :) that storms are coming including possible wintry mixes later this week and into the weekend. :(
This week I am going to skip ahead in 1 John 5 into 1 John 5:13-15 and talk about "How to Have Confidence in Prayer."  We will come back to the first half of 1 John 5 to close out the series on April 10.
Then we will get ready for Holy Week and finish it off with Resurrection Day (Easter Sunday)!  We are quickly approaching that season so be in prayer for who you can invite to Easter Sunday on April 24.
This past Sunday I talked about God’s perfect love.  I am attaching the notes to that message.
This Saturday we have Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 am, followed by a technology seminar by Dustin Chew from 9am-12 noon at the church.
Next Tuesday night March 29 at 7 pm we have deacon’s meeting at Bill and Melody Bowman’s.
Hope to see you.
God Bless,
Brian Mackie

Livin’ the Mission:
“Perfect Love”
Verses: 1 John 4:13-21
To make Jesus Christ known, loved and obeyed.
(White Branch Mission Statement)
Spiritual Maturity is becoming more like Jesus.
It is impossible for human beings to give perfect love.
We cannot love perfectly because we are selfish and sinful.
Only God can give perfect love.
God has perfect love for you.   Romans 5:8
God is giving and receiving perfect love constantly in the trinity.
John 4:16 “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” (NIV)
Ten Benefits of God’s Perfect Love:
#1 It takes away our fear. (1 John 4:18, 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)
#2 It gives us acceptance. (Eph. 1:6, NKJV, Rom. 5:16, NLT)
#3 It gives us righteousness. (Rom. 5:17, Titus 3:3-5, NIV, 3:3-8 MSG)
#4 It gives us confidence in prayer. (Heb. 4:16, 1 John 5:14-15, Matt. 7:9-11)

#5 It provides for our needs. (Matt. 6:25-33)
#6 It makes sense out of our hardships. (Rom. 8:28, 35-39 NLT)
#7 It gives us hope for eternity.  (1 Cor. 15:19, 51-55 NLT, 2 Thess. 2:16)
#8 It allows us to love ourselves appropriately. (Ephesians 2:10, Psalm 139:13-18)
#9 It allows us to love others appropriately.  (1 John 4:11, 19-21)
#10 It allows us to love God appropriately. (1 John 4:10, 19)

God loves you. Receive His love today

Perfect Love

We all want love and need love.  Why does this seem so difficult to give and receive?  The answer…is in this Sunday’s sermon!
Actually I will give you two hints.  Hint #1:  We are selfish and sinful.  Therefore it is beyond our natural ability to give and receive perfect love.
Hint #2:  God is love.  He is the only one able to give perfect love.
Okay, so now you know the main ideas for Sunday.  But I have a lot more in store on this subject this Sunday as I will preach from 1 John 4:13-21 on "Perfect Love."
This past Sunday I preached on "Loving those in the Church," from 1 John 4:7-12.  I believe this is a key to church health, church growth, evangelism, and maturity.
I have attached the outline from this past Sunday’s message.
I have a vision that White Branch will be known around the area as a church where people can be loved.
Tonight (Tuesday) Leadership Team meeting is at 7 pm at Bill and Melody Bowman’s.
Thursday Bible Study on Genesis 18-19 will also be at Bill and Melody Bowman’s.
The last Saturday of the month, March 26th, there will be a men’s prayer breakfast followed by a seminar on technology by Dustin Chew.
Hope you can join us and bring a friend.
God Bless,
Brian Mackie

Livin the Mission (Loving those in the Church)

We have now officially entered the Lent season as yesterday was "Ash Wednesday." I am sorry to say that I missed out on my annual tradition of eating packzi on Tuesday! :(
Lent is a tradition of the church some say dating back to the second century as a way of preparing new converts for baptism in the season leading up to the resurrection.  Since then its influence has grown and changed.  It is considered a time to focus on repentance (change of mind and actions) and spiritual disciplines (habits) leading up to the celebration of Good Friday and the resurrection.  It is a time to grow closer to the Lord specifically through fasting, praying and giving.  I encourage you in this time of the year to specifically focus on special giving, fasting or praying as a way to grow closer to the Lord as we lead up to the celebration of the Love Feast (our communion meal on Maundy Thursday), Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday.
Regardless of your thoughts on the church’s traditions, or specifically Lent, these practices will be beneficial and I believe you will find this to be a time of great spiritual growth if you will allow it.
This week we continue our series, "Livin’ the Mission" with 1 John 4:7-12 and the message "Loving those in the Church."
This past week I talked about identifying counterfeit christianity and false prophets.  I will attach the outline for you.
This week also note that we are having Bible Study on Genesis 16-17 at Bill Bowman’s at 5800 E. State Road 38.
Our leadership team meeting is next Tuesday March 15 at 7 pm. (Please note the change to the 3rd Tuesday from previous Wednesday meetings).
Hope you can join us.
God Bless,
Brian Mackie
