Livin’ The Mission (Knowing Jesus)

Happy New Year!

The holiday season is behind us now and the New Year is here.

We are in a series right now on "Livin the Mission" from 1 John about making Jesus Christ known, loved and obeyed (White Branch’s Mission Statement).

This week I am going to be preaching from 1 John 2:1-6 about knowing Jesus.

Knowing Jesus is the most important pursuit of our life.  In John 14:6 Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life.  In other words He is what life is all about.  In this New Year, I encourage you to make knowing Jesus your most important pursuit.

This past Sunday I talked about "Getting Grounded in Jesus’ Work For You."

I gave four actions to do that:

Read the Scriptures that tell you what Jesus did for you.

Meditate on the Scriptures…

Memorize the Scriptures…

Believe the Scritpures…

I then gave us seven Scriptures to read, meditate on, memorize and believe this week.

Here they are again:

Seven Scriptures for this Week:
#1 1 John 2:2 “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
#2 Eph. 1:7 “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace”
#3 Eph. 2:4-5 “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved”
#4 John 3:18a “Whoever believes in him is not condemned…”
#5 Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
#6 Romans 5:9 “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!”
#7 Romans 3:22-24 “This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus”

I underlined the parts that show us what we have in Christ.  Once we get to know what Christ has done for us and truly believe it, it will radically change our lives.

Have a great week getting to know what Christ has done for you.

God Bless,
Brian Mackie
