Livin the Mission (Growing Up)

Hello,

January continues to look cold and snowy.  In the midst of it all, Jesus is still alive and active in the world and in our lives.

We are in a series on "Livin the Mission" tying White Branch’s mission statement to the book of 1 John.

This week we will pick up in Chapter 2 verses 12-14 about "Growing Up" or maturing in Christ.

This past week I preached on "Loving Those That Are Different From Us" from 1 John 2:7-11.

I preached about how we are in the light if we love our brothers but still in darkness if we hate them.  Unfortunately Jesus’ followers have not always lived up to this and have stained the church with our classism, sexism and racism over the years.  I challenged us to do one of five things to help love those that our different this week.

#1  Remember (Jesus’ work on the cross and love for all as well as the fact that most of us our Gentiles and we have been added to the Jewish believers.  They first reached out and brought in those that were different).

#2  Pray (for those in different parts of the world, or cultures).

#3  Invite (someone who is different to your world, church, or a meal).

#4  Go (to someone else’s world by doing a cross cultural missions trip or attending a church service with a different culture).

#5  Do (to others as you would have them do for you, the Golden Rule from Matthew 7:12).

We have a lot of events coming up:

Women’s Fellowship this Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the church.

Genesis Bible Study this Thursday at 7 pm at the church.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 am this Saturday at the church.

Leadership Team meeting will be held on Wednesday January 26 at 7 pm.

Sunday January 30, we will be having a pitch-in meal following worship, with the church forum to follow.  We will also be having special music from Martha Bowman during the service.

As you can see, we have lots going on these next couple of weeks.  Hope to see you.

God Bless,
